Saturday July 5th 2008

Hi Everyone,

All of us who have worked on the Foodline every Saturday for the past two plus years want to thank the St. Francis of Assisi Church and its parishioners for their generous support and use of the kitchen facilities.

This past Saturday we made the transition to our new temporary home at St. Georges Episcopal Church at 4600 St. Charles Avenue. Reverand Jim Quigley and Chef Stan welcomed us at 4:00pm as we began cooking right away.

The kitchen is great. It has two large ovens (that hold 4 deep dish aluminum pans each) and lots of stove top space. There are divided deep sinks and a sprayer that makes clean-up an easy job. And the side yard is really a wonderful place to grill the hot dogs and spend some time visiting with each other.

Helping to cook this week's meal were Billy, John, Lisa, Becky, Allen, Guy, Jared, Helen, Carrie and Robbie. Barbara, visiting from Montreal, came a little later and helped serve the food.

This week, we served red beans and rice with ham, green beans, pork and beans, hot dogs and buns, honeybuns, fruit punch and water to 185 people.

Remember, we can always use more help whether it be labor, food or money contributions. Let's spread the word that our group's sole purpose is to feed the hungry and homeless people of New Orleans and that 100% of all contributions go toward that purpose.

See you next week!

Blessings,

Allen
